I love wearing lipstick and it’s something that I’ve always included in my makeup routine, I can’t leave the house without a bit of lippie on as it gives me that dressed up feel. I personally love the minimal makeup look which doesn’t take up too much time in the morning. My routine consists of foundation that is easy to apply and gives good coverage along with my statement black eyeliner finished with a lipstick to add a pop of colour. I have a makeup bag with a range of different coloured lipsticks from pinks, corals to more subtle nudes. I find that a good colour lip can instantly transform and complete your look, to give you that added oomph and confidence to tackle the day ahead.

Red lipstick is a classic colour which will never look out dated and is a must have staple. I’ve looked into how red lipsticks are made…..the pigment is made from Cochineal bugs which live on Cacti. The actual colour red is known as Carmine Red and comes from boiling the insect bodies in chemicals such as ammonia or sodium carbonate solution. This red dye has been used for centuries in textiles and cosmetics as it produces a vivid and rich red dye. There is a focus more than ever to look at the ingredients in the products that we use and to question is it good for the environment and for ourselves. I’ve had a look to see which brands offer a vegan and cruelty free option of red lipsticks.
