Things you may not know about the Andaz...
Secret hidden Greek temple...
During construction, someone looking at the blueprints noticed there was an additional room that had long been kept a secret… Once the wall was demolished, it revealed a secret Greek temple with Italian marble with checked floors, built in 1912 by Charles Barry Junior (the son of Charles Barry, the architect responsible for the Houses of Parliament’s design) and where the Freemasons attended their Lodge meetings.
A place where musical stars have visited...
Lady Gaga came by for a photoshoot with Vogue Italia and Paloma Faith shot her music video for ‘I Just Can’t Rely on You’ in the temple as an opulent backdrop for photoshoots and music videos. Beyonce stayed here during her UK tour too.
Steeped in history...
Formerly known as the Great Eastern Hotel, it was built in 1884. The building underwent extensive renovation and expansion between 1899 and 1901 and again in 2000, when it was co-owned by Terence Conran before it became the Andaz. Until the 1980s, the Great eastern Hotel was the only hotel within the City of London.
Indulge in one of the seven bars and restaurants at the hotel...
After you've found your perfect dress, what better way than to indulge in one of the hotel's seven places brides can enjoy a glass of champagne or enjoy an evening meal.
